Carl J. Humphries Dental Ceramics is a dental laboratory specialising in quality crown, bridge and implant retained dental restorations.

My aim is to provide a first class service to the dental team with the purpose of fulfilling the patients needs and desires.

I work very closely with my clients, and patients regularly visit my laboratory for shade taking and to discuss smile design and tooth function. At mutually convenient arranged times I will see the patient at the clients surgery.

A brief working history to date:

I started my apprenticeship in the hot summer of 1976 in a small prosthetics laboratory, but soon realised that a college course would give a more  rounded education in my chosen profession.

I attended the South Glamorgan Institute and Cardiff Dental School and completed my City and Guilds in Dental Technology in 1980. I then worked at the Cardiff Dental School before working in private practice and a commercial laboratory until 1984. The experience I gained was invaluable and when an opportunity arose to set up my own business in a dental practice in the beautiful city of Bath, I jumped at the chance.

I worked and lived in Bath until 2002, and although I really enjoyed my time there, being born and raised by the sea made realise it was a good time return to my family and home town of Exmouth.

I have seen many changes in dental technology since I started, and I feel we are entering a very exciting period with dentists and patients alike demanding high standards. The television make over programs and magazine articles on cosmetic dentistry is high lighting the importance of the dental team.

The advance of  the cad-cam element in dental technology is another exciting development. And although cad-cam fabricated restorations are not for every patient, they do offer another solution to restoring a patients smile and function.

My professional aim is to produce high quality aesthically realistic dental restorations, using recognised materials. To deliver the work on time at a competitive price. To keep up with the advances in dental technology I regularly attend courses and updates on the latest technique and materials.

I am always happy to discuss proposed restorations with dentists, and with the aid of study casts, diagnostic wax ups and good photographs I feel we, as part of the dental team, can put the smile back on the patients face !
